If the answer is “yes”, then you’re probably single. If you’re reading this, I’d imagine you watch a lot of Peep Show. Chances are you’ve either got references to the sitcom on your dating app profile, or you’ve used them to break the ice after matching with someone. My own bio, for example, is the above Johnson quote, plus a rainbow flag so people know I’m queer — because, really, the only people I want to rule out are normies who’ve never seen the show, and homophobes. Though it began over 15 years ago, Peep Show is still the only show to reveal dating life in British cities in all its awkwardness and banality, set to a soundtrack of every dark intrusive thought you’ve ever had. In the meme age, relishing in your failures, sadness and embarrassment has become common online — and buddy, Peep Show is essentially one long prolonged murmur of “big mood”. It’s not necessarily unique or special to say you like the defining sitcom of the decade.

Peep Show is a British television sitcom starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb. It was written Peep Show follows the lives of Mark Corrigan (Mitchell) and Jeremy “Jez” Usborne (Webb), two very different, at his upcoming birthday party to take a young Australian woman whom he had recently met whilst speed dating.

Toward that end, he has planned a party for himself, and has also taken up speed-dating, in the hope that he will meet someone who will be willing to accompany him to his own soiree. At speed-dating, Mark meets a high-spirited Australian woman named Saz and, looking to kill two birds with one stone, invites her to move in, generously allowing Jez to sleep on the couch until he can find another place.

He also stocks the kitchen with horrible, healthy food, to punish Jez for eating his bacon and Cherry Garcia. And not enjoying it myself is a small price to pay. Mark thinks that, if he and the Aussie are confined in a small space for long enough, something just might happen. The shared realization that this is not a sex fantasy come to life is enough to get Mark and Jez to bond again, for a few traumatized minutes. Cringe comedy seldom gets more brutal than the latter half of this episode, starting with the conversation in which Mark sits a hung over, anxious Saz down and gently suggests that she move on, and Saz gingerly suggests that, if she can just stay, she might almost sort of kind of see her way to being… interested in him?

The spec instantly went viral and eventually landed Domineau, a freelance joke writer at the time, a job on Family Guy.
